After a little scrubbing not bad was nice to see a new bzm clutch still can't find a pull starter online

Skefs
12-10-2016, 03:04 PM
Ah awesome I love Whilton mill although it's a lot bumpier than I thought it was probably just me though, haven't been to m4 or Swindon karting for ages but after my bike has been set up should see some track time, would be go to see you on track scott

Scott Whale
12-10-2016, 03:10 PM
Yeah I did think that as well about whilton as well and as soon as I can find the parts for the bike I'll be going up to do the bike night on Fridays just can't find the pull starter anywhere and I've found some hangers but the for the rr so don't think they will fit

Scott Whale
16-10-2016, 07:24 PM
That be grate mate and I tried to order one from the polini site but it just said some one will call me ???? Been 4 days still no call do you know if a bzm one will fit ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Skefs
16-10-2016, 07:40 PM
pretty sure a bzm one wouldn't fit, have you tried ringing m4 karting as there hire bikes use polini engines they are bound to have a decent second hand one but like I said I will have a look tomorrow, normally McIntosh is really good at getting back to people normally within the hour?

Scott Whale
16-10-2016, 07:42 PM
I'll give them a call tomorrow but if you have one I'll have it off you mate and just out of interest the hangers on the rr how much bigger are they ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Skefs
16-10-2016, 07:47 PM
no problem the hangers are a couple of mm the hole distance that is when I had an rsr I was lucky enough to get some adjustable ones from andy weeden not sure if he still does them or not but they were a quality bit of kit he might be on facebook if that helps? it doesn't help that the rsr is somewhat of a rare breed now and it also doesn't help that not many people are on this site, there used to be loads of parts flying about but now there is next to none its a shame and I hope things improve, we will just have to recruit more people from track days and stuff lol

Scott Whale
16-10-2016, 07:51 PM
The one I found are adjustable I could always fit them with new holes and I raced when I was younger and I've been looking at this fab racing

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Skefs
16-10-2016, 08:00 PM
will probably have to make a bracket up so the holes match sort of thing, and really that's awesome I raced with the nmrrc now its called the bmb but adult grids are small compared to what they used to be I am not sure why but this new fab series sounds promising and its a two day event, I will wait to see what dan (bullet) is doing and just copy him lol

Skefs
16-10-2016, 08:01 PM
what bike and engine set up are you looking to race with?

Scott Whale
16-10-2016, 08:16 PM
Yeah I was looking into it and not looked into bikes yet I've looked at the pit bikes was thinking of doing both minimoto and pit bike what sort of set up do people use ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Skefs
16-10-2016, 08:48 PM
the pitbike grids are always big and the only race with the same engines so nice and simple the mini moto grids are getting very small now, and I am not really sure what people are running I would guess either bzm 5 or 6 port and IAME engines maybe some 5 port polini engines but dan is the man to ask about that one as he raced this season

Scott Whale
16-10-2016, 08:52 PM
140 cc I think on the pit bikes and I'll see how the rsr rides if I like it I'll stick with it and fit different engine when does the season start

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bullit

You have a choice regarding the mini's
Proddy's (40cc W/C)
Open A/C
Restricted A/C

The idea of the restricted is that anyone with a 4.2 like your rsr can run without any alterations. But anything over and above this gets put on the dyno track side and restricted accordingly to make the grid more competitive

Scott Whale
16-10-2016, 09:30 PM
Oh so might just keep as is for the first go at it then how does the rsr stand up to the newer bike ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bullit
17-10-2016, 07:00 AM
Until last year Jay King was using an rsr and winning.
Some of the newer bikes come with hydraulic brakes but a lot of guys are still running cable brakes. The main thing is decent tyres.

Scott Whale
17-10-2016, 07:04 AM
Can you update the brakes ? And m4 do tyres

You can get adapter brackets to change then over. I'd ask at MMR seeing as your over that way, don't worry to much about the rear it's mainly the front you want.

Most people run Junior's front and rear OR Junior front and T42 slick rear. It's also worth finding a spare pair of rims and getting some JuniorR's for the wet.

Scott Whale
17-10-2016, 11:02 AM

What power are you making? I'm on the same setup as you.

Skefs
23-10-2016, 07:26 AM
Made 10.34bhp the first time then just had a call from mmr and it made 9.9bhp so lost half a bhp somewhere but my uncle and me did a lot of work to the inlet and Reed housing so hopefully made up some torque at the loss of the bhp but picking the bike up soon so will have a look at the graph and see what's going on, like my uncle said we may have gone too far with the porting but that's the risk you take with engine development and its all good fun though still happy with the figure though!

It could even be down to something as silly as atmospheric conditions lol.
One of mine is standard the other has gold mod to the cases and the barrel matched.

Didn't think they'd make that much power, hopefully mine is similar.

They are awesome engines would defo be around the same if you have the same engine buddy, although when it did make 10.34bhp the torque was only 4.21 hence why me and my uncle decided to modify the inlet and put bigger reedblock in and stuff like I said can't wait to get the graph back and have a look though to see if we did get the extra torque that we were after!?

SMALL END BEARING (1 of)
10mmx13mmx14mm (simply bearings only do 10*13*13mm, these fit fine)

CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS (2 of)

CRANKSHAFT SEALS (2 of)
Polini - 15 x 22 x 5

I'm running a 91 in a 4.2 with twin reed conversion and 6.2 pipe and 82 in a series 1 with twin reed and 4.2 pipe. I reckon mid 80's would be about right. Have a search on here, there's some good threads I found when trying to find a starting point. Have you leak tested the engine?
