Chinese Bikes:-

If you have recently bought a Mini moto from Ebay/car boot/mate etc and you paid less than £100 for it – chances are it’s a Chinese Replica.

Imported Chinese replica bikes are often referred to as ‘CAGS’. This is short for ‘Caglari’ and is the generic name applied to all the different types of Chinese bike. Caglari originates from one of the first names they were imported under (in the US).

The bikes are generally poor quality copies of genuine machines. The poor quality is driven by the use of cheap alloy materials/inadequate-unsightly welds and very loose machining tolerances on the engines. They are however a cheap way into the sport and most people racing Euro bikes started out on one of these.

Below is a guide to identifying which bike you have and covers most of the common Cags you are likely to come across:-

Cag Mk1 (Air Cooled):-

Not really, there are 47 and 49cc versions that could be in either bike but you wouldnt notice any difference at all in power. Some even say that the 47 is better.

The RR replica (sort of) above (bottom picture) hasnt really been seen over here to be honest. Look out for a GRC GP Racing, GRC RSR, Polini 911, BMS, Stamas, Blata elite.... something like that. A good price one will come up sooner or later. If your lucky you could spend less than £200 on a cleaner upper.

I have a Z1 but just havent had time to put it together and there's still other more important things to do first.

Just keep browsing I picked up my genuine bms with polini 4.2 for just under £260 and was well worth paying that bit extra for the extra speed, power, reliability. Actually being on the track not on your knees in the pits. Prob 3-4 hundred tho for a good bike I think.

Are the bikes in some sort of order, or just random? :)

That will be a 49cc one.. if you look at the exhaust port underneath is a ally bracket that is how you can tell. without that its a 47cc. from what I know n been told over the years in minimotos.

That is a mk2 cag the most common Chinese bike there is although some of the frames differ slightly depending on which sweat shop of 6 year olds built them
